Welcome, Mamacita.
You’re not here by accident.
My name is April Congdon, and it is an honor to walk with women through one of the most transformative journeys of their lives - birth.
As a follower of Jesus, a missionary, and a mother of four, I carry both personal and professional experience into my work as a doula.
Each of my own four births shaped me deeply, teaching me that birth is not only physical, but also profoundly mental, spiritual, emotional, and relational.
Out of those experiences, I have become passionate about helping women prepare for birth wholistically, beginning with the renewal of the mind.
I understand this season you’re in.
I’ve been there too.
I believe that when a woman entrusts her birth to God and prepares her whole being—mind, body, spirit, emotions, and relationships—she is able to step into labor with peace, joy, and confidence.
My role as your doula is not to take over, but to come alongside you: to equip, encourage, and remind you of what God has already placed within you.
I hold space for you to surrender fear, embrace love, and receive birth as the powerful, transformative experience it was designed to be.

What I Offer
In Person or Virtual
-
I guide women in a preparation process that goes beyond logistics and goes deep into the heart and the mind. Together we explored tools based on both Scripture and neuroscience—renewing thought patterns, practicing truth statements, and cultivating rhythms of rest and resilience. This preparation strengthens not only your body for labor, but also your mind, spirit, and emotions for what unknown of the road.
-
Each woman is unique, and each birth is unique. That's why I meet you wherever you are - whether you are preparing for your first baby or your fourth, carrying great enthusiasm or hidden fears.
I listen with empathy, respond with encouragement and help you discover what gives you peace, strength and confidence. My presence is constant, in prayer and practice.
-
During labor, I'm happy to take a background role while you and your partner stay in the front or play a more accompanying role alongside you filling in that space. You inform how involved you’d like my role to be.
I intentionally make sure the environment reflects your desires - adjusting scents as I work. I remain present as you progress, offering nutritious foods and drinks when your body needs them (as the birth environment allows), and preparing light and sound exactly how you imagined it.
My role within your birth team is supportive providing guidance to you and your partner as needed and desired, so that you feel safe and confident with tools and techniques that bring you relief in moments more intense. I offer physical comfort measures, position guidance and practical support that helps your body to work with the process designed by God.
My desire is not to interfere, but to take care of the logistics necessary so that you and your partner can be fully present with each other - safe and connected as you walk through birth as a united team.
-
Since birth rarely follows a script, I stress the importance of flexibility over rigid plans.
Together we prepare not only for your first choice, but also for your second and third preferences - so that, if the circumstances change, you still feel accompanied, respected and empowered.
My role is to adapt with you, ensuring that, whatever direction your birth takes, you feel cared for and confident.
-
As a believer, I see birth as an act of worship and surrender. My role is to help you keep your gaze
Focus on the One who sustains you in every wave and in every moment. I interweave prayer, Scripture and soft reminders of truth in your preparation and birth experience if you allow, honoring both your faith and your unique story.
-
My accompaniment does not end with birth.
I am present in your first weeks of postpartum, offering encouragement and resources for that precious and often bewildering time - when your body heals, your mind adjusts, and your spirit learns new rhythms of grace.

Why work with me
I don't bring perfection—I bring presence. My four births taught me that each story looks different, and even thus God is faithful in all of them.
I bring compassion rooted in real experiences, conviction grounded in the scriptures, and practical wisdom formed by both motherhood and ministry.
If you are looking for a doula to accompany your mind, body, spirit, emotions and relationships, while helping you to deliver your birth to the One who writes your story, it would be an honor to serve you.
